Sleep and children at times do not mix – and this generally not only impacts the child but also results in very tired, and at times, moody parents. Nights without quality sleep can add extra layers of stress onto relationships, and result in behavioural problems and overall health.
Timber Tots Child Care recently welcomed Paediatric Sleep Specialist, Dr Scott Burgess, to a Q&A session with our parents. This information night was a truly beneficial event for many, with discussions ranging from common issues faced by parents when putting them to bed, how best to mitigate certain behaviours and strategies to overcome sleep behaviours and disorders.
The single biggest recognition made by all on the night was that behavioural sleep disorders are common and there are a variety of methods to counteracting these behaviours. Overall, Dr Burgess clearly defined that to solve the majority of common problems, if parents plan, implement, monitor and reward there will always (or at least 99% of the time) be light at the end of the tunnel. And if all else fails ask for help.
If you would like further information about this topic, or would like to speak with a specialist, please feel free to touch base with Dr Burgess and his team.
