Food is a source of energy, vitamins, minerals, protein and essential fats needed by the body to live, grow and function properly. At Timber Tots we take our food seriously as we know that, when combined with physical activity, a healthy diet helps our children with problem-solving, recall, memory, verbal fluency and creativity whilst also can reducing the risk of chronic diseases later in life.

All young children need help to establish patterns of good eating and exercise for their present wellbeing and for a healthy life. How your child eats today will have a striking impact on their health throughout adolescence and into adulthood. By consuming a variety of foods from the five food groups (fruit, vegetables, bread and cereals, dairy, and meat or meat alternatives) our children grow and develop, do well academically and overall, feel good about themselves. On the other hand, occasional foods or snacks which are high in fat, salt or sugar, should only be eaten in moderation as they do not contain the same nutritional value.

Nutrition is important because it helps individuals attain optimal health throughout life, maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By teaching our children good nutrition habits from a young age we can provide our children with a much higher quality of life.
